Town of Collingwood municipal website

For years, the Town of Collingwood had been struggling with a clunky web system that was difficult to update, limited in its expandability, confusing to navigate and expensive to maintain. Since our overhaul in late 2008, town staff had added more than 3,000 pages of content on their own.

Town of Collingwood websiteIn May of 2008 I was asked to completely rebuild the Town of Collingwood’s municipal website.

After assessing their needs and budget, I recommended we implement an Open Source content management system (Drupal) and configure it in a way that would allow the various departments to update their own areas of the website. I created numerous specialized content templates for items such as by-laws, meeting agendas and minutes, tenders and more.

Once launched, I created a customized reference manual and trained staff in various departments, allowing them to maintain and update their own departmental information
and documents.
